From the Depths of Silence

I've always appreciated a film or show in space that subscribes to the science of silence in space. After all, sound cannot travel through emptiness.

Moon is a damn fine film. Although I am not an adamant sci-fi (or SyFy if you prefer) advocate myself, there is something intriguing about a realist approach to the genre long populated by fuzzy alien sidekicks and bug eyed monsters. Moon and Danny Boyle's Sunshine would make a good double feature night.

Sunshine does reach into the fantastic and surreal a bit more than Moon, but no so much as to movie it into Star Trek fantasy. Both Moon and Sunshine bridge a gap between geekdom and indie angst that probably moved them both into an unmarketable sector of film. Watch them anyway.
